How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Teachers:
You should do something that relates to your major. Since you majored in communications and PR, you should apply to public relations firms.
How I responded:
One of my favorite quotes is "Do more of what makes you happy." I knew I wanted a job that would make me happy and one that I couldn't wait to go to every day. People laughed and told me that it wasn't possible to be excited about your job every day. I put everyone else's opinions aside and asked myself "What makes me the happiest?" My answer has always been the same: helping people. I stuck with my gut and have never been happier. Listen to yourself - you're your own best guide.
