  • 2.

I felt a need to excel, so I got a second masters in management to change careers.

  • 3.

I found myself in a better salary bracket in social work than HR, so I decided to get my PhD.

  • 4.

    I attended college and graduated.

  • 5.

I published my dissertation into an expanded study that was published internationally.

  • 6.

I published my research into a self-published book.

  • 7.

I started my own company to put my PhD to work, since I didn't want to relocate and start over.

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Peers:

You shouldn't get too educated, no one will hire you. You're too smart for the south-USA, go up north in the USA or to a foreign country to excel. You need to work your way up like everyone else...

  • How I responded:

I ignored the ignorance and embraced the journey to defining my self-worth without a person's limits and limited thinking of what diverse talents I have to offer the workplace. Honestly, prayer, positive self-talk, venting with like minded friends, and limiting my inner circle to those who wish to see me succeed. Have courage and believe in yourself and know that only you can determine what talent you wish to cultivate for your life purpose! Yes, you can have more than one talent in life!

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • Not enough funds for school or to start my business. I decided a loan debt for school and my business is a debt that is worth it because it never expires and you will eventually pay it off.
